Note: Each home team's Youtube site is linked for those who might want to use this blog as a jumping off place to all live feeds. They link to the "videos" page. If you don't see the live feed there, just click on "home". All matches and all days begin at 11:00 am local time. This service is, of course also provided by ECB. However its links go to Web based pages, which can be ponderous for those with slower connections. The Youtube sites are much more bandwidth friendly in my opinion.

Note: For the full match video links, I have attempted to link you directly into the beginning of play (when the umpires come out if available). There are long periods of lead time on some of the videos. What I skip over, you may find interesting (such as final pitch preparation or pre-game practice). Its all there. Just use the slider bar.

Occasionally the video may be silent. Occasionally, there is sound feedback. Just locate where the sound is repaired, go back to where it went bad, and watch in silence.

I will report dropped catches, wickets off no balls, missed stumpings, etc.  that are discussed in one or more of the match reports. Obviously that doesn't mean there weren't more dropped catches, or even that some of the reports might have been mistaken, but the context of the drops may be of interest.

I'm adding links to Cricinfo match reports that have bylines.

I will also be providing a link to the ball by ball commentary provided by Cricket Australia. It is the best commentary in the fewest words that I have seen. Lengths, where the ball is hit, type of shot, selected matches have the name of all players doing the fielding, dropped catches noted.

The Round was ruined by rain on Day 3 which caused several matches to be played out for nothing more than bonus points on Day 4. Still, there were 4 decisions out of the 8 matches played.

Hampshire, for the 2nd consecutive round, was bowled out for double figures in their first Innings (92, after last week's 79). Sussex was bowled out for 106 and Essex for 99 in their first Innings.

Nottinghamshire, on the strength of consecutive dominant wins (310 runs v Derbyshire and an Innings and 30 runs over Essex), took the lead in Group 1, passing Warwickshire.  The Rose Counties are still 1-2 in Group 2, far ahead of the rest of the pack. And Gloucestershire, with the most wins in the Championship (4) have opened up almost a one win lead over Somerset.

Gloucestershire has won all three of their matches by wickets.

DROPPED CATCHES, ETC.

Kevin Hand, in his post match interview with Head Coach Stuart Law, alluded to the fact that dropped catches in Gloucestershire's 1st innings hurt Middlesex' chances, but they weren't mentioned in the Match stories. I was able to identify all of them, with the help of the commentaries and the fact that they were mentioned on the ones I watched. I got full data on 2 of the 4 dropped catches I know of in the Innings.

Day 1: Middlesex dropped 1 catch.

Wicket Keeper John Simpson. No other information available.

Day 2: Middlesex dropped 3 catches

Sam Robson. No other information available.

Over 48.1
James Bracey, dropped by Martin Annderson (Gully) on 36 with the score 107/4. The 5th wicket fell at 191. Bracey finished on 75 with the score 205/6. The drop cost 16 player runs and 43 partnership runs (see 2nd drop below). Annderson dove and had the ball in both hands. Commentators implied it should have been caught.

Over 63.6
James Bracey, dropped by Max Holden (Backward Point) on 52 with the score 150/4. The 5th wicket fell at 191. Bracey finished on 75 with the score 205/6. The drop cost 23 player runs. Bracey was part of 2 partnerships that added 55 runs since he was dropped the first time. Holden dove forward and got to the ball but dropped it. Commentators implied it was a difficult catch.
Bracey was dismissed at 72.2 overs. He was part of 2 partnerships that that took the score from 107/4 (1st drop) to 150/4 (2nd drop) to 205/6. (98 runs) He added 17.5 overs at the crease after the first drop and another 8.3 overs after the 2nd drop. A total of 26.2 overs as a result of the drops and his cashing in on Middlesex' largesse. The drops cost a total of 39 player runs.
