Middlesex v Hampshire

MATCH 1 HIGHLIGHTS (Pcc) Note: Click on "Videos" on the scorecard. The link given at the top does not work.

Note: Click on "Videos" on the scorecard. The link given at the top is a link to a ridiculously speeded up "condensed game" (about 5 minutes, that is incomprehensible).

1. Middlesex& 157/3; Hampshire 117/9
MIDDLESEX WON BY 40 RUNS

2. Hampshire& 93/8; Middlesex 94/7 (18 overs)
MIDDLESEX WON BY 3 WICKETS WITH 12 BALLS LEFT TO BOWL
MIDDLESEX (2-0--8--1ST [TIED]); HAMPSHIRE (0-2--0--4TH [TIED])

Note: both scorecards are interactive scorecards, with runs, wickets, and boundaries linked to video.

In the first match a 144 run opening partnership between Captain Naomi Dattani and Cordelia Griffith lasted until only 9 balls were left in the innings and catapulted Middlesex to victory.

Dattani 60 in 53 balls, 7 fours, strike rate; 113.21
Griffith 73 in 56 balls, 10 fours, strike rate 130.36

In the second match the same pair had the highest partnership again, but this time it was much less--43 runs. This allowed Middlesex to chase down a small total because of a great team effort by the bowling attack. Hamphire won the toss and batted, but 5 of the 6 Middlesex bowlers took at least one wicket. Bavika Gajipra led the way with 3 for 16 in four overs. 7 of the 8 wickets were bowled. And very tight, accurate bowling gave away little (only 6 wides the entire innings.) Finty Trussler was the best of the Hampshire bowlers, with 3 for 20 in four overs, and Charlie Dean was very economical (1 for 12 in 4 overs) but, in the end, a total of 97 was just a little too low for the Hampshire attack to defend.
